Music has been a huge part of my life since the age of fifteen, when I was first introduced to one of my biggest passions – the guitar! To this day I remember the first time I heard heavy metal, and the raw power of it left me in goosebumps. The song was “The Unforgiven” by Metallica and from then onwards I was hooked and knew I’d found the genre that would both inspire and define me for the coming years. Shortly after I bought my first guitar, a beautiful Sunburst Epiphone Les Paul and started learning to play, much to the chagrin of my parents! As I got better (and ahem, my student loan arrived) the collection expanded to include the Epiphone Explorer Gothic, in adulation of my hero James Hetfield. Today I own 5 electrics including an Ibanez and a Schecter
A little while ago I recorded a video of me playing along to Children of Bodom’s “Kissing the Shadows”, check it out below!
I’ve also been fortunate enough to meet many of my Metal heroes which I’m unashamedly going to share with you… 10 points if you can name them all…
Finally for you true metalheads out there, coming soon is a selection of songs for your aural pleasure from some of my favourite bands. Headbanging and air-guitaring is mandatory!
